If you’re looking for a travel destination with spectacular beaches, lush forests, vibrant nightlife and a landscape varying from desert to volcanoes, then Tenerife is a great pick! It’s the largest of the Canary Islands off of Spain, with so many activities and nature spots to explore. Tenerife flights are quite affordable from many spots in Europe, so hop on a plane and check some of these things off your list:
National Park of Las Cañadas del Teide Visit this gorgeous national park to see the highest peak in Spain and explore plenty of hiking trails and breathtaking volcanic scenery. There’s a cable car that will take you more than 3 km up the volcano!
Water Parks Tenerife has some great water parks in the south of the island. Siam Park is a Thai-themed park with tons of water slides, and Aqualand has got all the thrilling water park attractions with a dolphin show as well!
Horseback Riding See the lush scenery from horseback on a one or two-hour trek through the valley. Try the La Caldera del Rey stables, just a 15-minute drive from Playa de Las Americas.
Santa Cruz Experience the vibrant capital city of Tenerife, which has plenty of cultural and entertainment options! It’s well known for its tax-free shopping- many great shops line the seaside so you can browse the retail while enjoying the beach views.
Guimar Pyramids These pyramids were just opened to the public as an ethnological park in 1998, and along with the six pyramids there’s a museum and leisure area to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
Anaga Rural Park This beautiful park is home to some of the most extraordinary biodiversity in the area, with stunning cliffs and lush green forests to walk through. Check out the nearby beach made of volcanic black sand, La Playa de Benijos.
Village of Garachico This village and fishing port is abundant with culture, with so many churches, mansions, convents and other interesting buildings filled with history. The town was buried by a volcano and rebuilt in 1706, and today it’s a great place to relax, take in the local culture and enjoy the natural pools and coves formed on the shoreline.
Water Sports Tenerife offers great windsurfing conditions all along its coastlines, the most popular along the south. There are also about 30 major diving spots along the coasts for scuba divers to explore the clear, warm waters.
